Tesla fires 14 percent of its employees in 2024

According to information received, Tesla laid off almost 14 percent of its employees in 2024 alone.

Electric vehicle sales began to decline in Europe and China in the new year. Many brands have even decided to invest more in internal combustion engines.

Tesla has significantly reduced production of the Model Y due to falling demand in China. Additionally, the company is slowly reducing its workforce due to low sales.

Things aren't looking good for the company, with recent reports revealing that Tesla has cut its headcount by at least 14 percent this year.

This aggressive approach to reducing headcount comes shortly after Musk announced in April that Tesla would reduce its global workforce by 10 percent in the coming days.

According to data available on December 31 last year, the number of employees globally was 140,473 people, and this number includes hourly and salaried workers. However, according to a report published on CNBC, 121 thousand people now work within the company.

According to information received, Tesla plans to reduce the production of Model Y by at least 20 percent from March to June.

While Tesla aims to sell 2 million vehicles worldwide this year, approximately 700 thousand of this figure will come from China.

On the other hand, Tesla is losing its market share because Chinese citizens now prefer domestic brands.
