EU new car sales increase in July

New car sales in the European Union market increased by 0.2 percent in July compared to the same month last year, reaching 852,051.

The European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA) has published new car registration data for the European Union (EU) countries for July.

New car sales in EU countries increased by 0.2 percent last month compared to the same month in 2023, reaching 852,051 units.

33.4 percent of new cars sold in EU member countries were gasoline, 32 percent were hybrid, 12.6 percent were diesel, 12.1 percent were electric, 6.8 percent were plug-in hybrid, and 3.1 percent were vehicles using other fuel types.

Electric car sales decreased by 10.8 percent in July compared to the same period last year, falling to 102,705.

In the same period last year, the share of electric cars in total sales was 13.5 percent.

According to manufacturers, Volkswagen Group made the most new car sales in the EU in July with 229,387 vehicles.

Volkswagen Group was followed by Stellantis Group. Stellantis Group, which includes brands such as Peugeot, Fiat, Citroen and Opel, sold 137,012 cars.

Renault Group came in third with 88,707 new cars, while Hyundai Group came in fourth with 74,724 new cars.
