Competition Board Allowed VW and Ford to Make Joint Production

The Competition Board approved the joint production of Ford Motor Company and Volkswagen AG at Ford Automotive's facilities in Kocaeli.

Ford Motor Company and Volkswagen AG had signed an agreement to jointly produce various vehicles and submitted it to the Competition Board.

The Competition Board decided to grant exemption to agreements between Ford Motor Company and Volkswagen AG on the development, supply and production of one-ton commercial vehicles.

Thus, the agreement, which will be made at the facility in Kocaeli and covers new generation commercial diesel vehicles, rechargeable hybrid electric vehicles and fully electric vehicles in the first phase, was approved.

The first models to be produced within the scope of the agreement will be the vehicles in the new generation Ford Transit Custom and Ford Tourneo Custom families that will come out of Ford Otomotiv Sanayi AŞ's facilities.

One-ton medium commercial diesel, rechargeable hybrid electric and full electric versions of these vehicles will be produced.

In the statement, it was stated that Ford is expected to invest 1 billion 390 million euros in 2020-2025 and increase its one-ton commercial vehicle production capacity from 180 thousand to 405 thousand, and that the company is expected to implement its approximately 11-year production plan.
