Automobile manufacturers are experiencing difficulties in the face of rival companies, especially those of Chinese origin, strengthening their sales volumes in the Asian market.
Nissan will close its factory in Changcou city, China's Jiangsu province. The facility, where the "Qashqai" compact sports model is produced in the factory operated in cooperation with the Chinese company Dongfeng Motor, has officially completed its activities.
It was stated that the factory, which has an annual production capacity of 130 thousand units, constitutes approximately 10 percent of the Japanese company's total manufacturing volume in China.
It was stated that the closure decision was taken to reduce the domestic production capacity of the Japanese company after low sales in China.
It was noted that as a result of the increasing price competition in the local market, the sales volume of the Japanese company gradually decreased and there was a production surplus.
According to the latest data, Nissan's new vehicle sales in China in May decreased by 2.8 percent compared to the same month of the previous year.
It was emphasized in the national press that Chinese automobile manufacturers increased their dominance in the local market, especially electric vehicles.
